out of the rubble

just got back from dear old Christchurch. First, a couple of latest pieces:

that first one is from a classic CHCH graf spot (which i was the first to paint, in 1998) the sheep sheds:

meanwhile, the central city is in stages of post-quake destruction. These are some places i used to frequently frequent, now scarcely recognisable...

back to Taupo

Easter by the lake... found time to paint something there this time

this time, explorations lead to small lakeside holiday town Kinloch.
Here's Whakaipo bay on the way out, beautiful spot, nice for skimming stones too
unfortunately, we were covered in cloud most of the weekend, so instead of a view out to the snow-capped volcanoes over the shimmmering lake and all the trees glowing in vibrant autumnal colours, i took this over exposed washed out pic looking out to the lake from Kinloch.

if you want to know the origins of the Easter celebration, check my last year's post :)

Canterbury and coffee

quick piece painted out in New Lynn today (peace to RCD)...
repping my first crew: UAC. Original Christchurch KINGS.
Much love to the Christchurch Fat Cappers a.k.a TNA!

On a less glorious note, this is a job using paint markers on a blackboard... good luck trying to ever clean that off lol! note the Mark Todd signature up in there, "Great cup of Bell"

recent art by me

I've been so engrossed in archeo-astronomy pseudo-history, I've neglected to post up any of my recent work... so here ya go.
firstly, a piece which i left unfinished for 2 months, finally got back yesterday and ended it. boom! Thanks for the spot Navs and for the advice on fuel combustion.

These next flicks are of the back part and toilets of intimate Ponsonby bar "Julep", all prohibiton-era theme artwork. complicated job but very happy with results! cheers Phil

here's a commissioned Valentines Day canvas for a friend, Betty Boop with her hairdo. Painted with brushes, erk!
More brush painting: this time on a fibreglass horse for the wonderful Fastest Art Charity Auction, raising money for various charities, check the link for the other entries. Great stuff Auckland. This one here is "by" my homies the Vodafone Warriors, I "helped" ;)

Miami + Nor Cal adventure

So... off went the TMD's to the Primary Flight graf jam in Miami, FL. I didn't think i would get my new passport or get ticket money together in time, but somehow it all came together at the last minute.

Here's the extreme piece i painted at the jam:
Looking west from out back of our rental apartment towards Miami city:

Luckily, we were staying in picturesque South Beach, the world's greatest Art Deco archetecture spot. This is the tropical-like beach...
the water and weather were delightfully warm despite it being "winter". Looking down Washington Ave:
Ocean Drive:
They love thier custom rides too
On the way back to NZ i stopped for 4 days at San Francisco, stayed out in "The Valley" again with my LORDS crew familia. This is the freight yard in the day before the rain came
Talk of the town Barber shop hooked me up with the "Nor Cal" cut lol
this is a wall in Modesto done by me alongside Lords Rebuke, Ziek, Obses, Lerk, Kres, and Roka, spelling out LORDS many times over. it's not 100% finished due to rain but should get sent the finished flicks soon.

on my last day, Lord Obses took me sightsseing around San Fran, i love hanging out there, good times. This is me on their famous windiest street :)

All these graf battles are dope but where's the landscape painting battle at! lol
